Sardinia is a land of rare beauty, and the Podere Guardia Grande wine estate is the perfect place to explore its essence.

We produce our wine on one of the few headlands that offer thrilling views over Capo Caccia, Porto Conte and the coastline of Alghero, in Sardinia. Here at Podere Guardia Grande, it’s almost as if the grapes, driven by a mysterious alchemy and energy, were able to respond to the call of the beauty that surrounds them, transforming it into quality wine.

Exquisite care and attention are in evidence throughout our vineyards, where we have learned to recognise and nurture beauty and quality.

The twinkling blue of the sea, contrasting sharply with the ferrous red of the basalt rocks, is permeated with the intense aroma of the herbs that carpet the earth. It’s easy to close your eyes here and imagine the grapes ripening as the warm glow of sunset spreads slowly across the Estate.

The Earth is a mother

The goodness of our wine is inextricably linked to the intrinsic qualities of the Guardia Grande headland, the nature of this place, the stones and the distinctive features of the climate. Fertile and creative, the earth embodies the characteristics of a mother’s belly, welcoming life and steadfastly nourishing it with patience and strength. The earth has magical powers, pervaded with the same energy required to produce wine.

his fertility and generative power of the earth and its cyclical nature inspired the statuettes of the Mother Goddess found in the Domus de Janas caves, representing archetypes that transcend time and space.
